James Corden he claimed he almost starred in the “The Whale” before Brendan Fraser took over the role.

As the actor and presenter said he was going to play Charlie in Darren Aronofsky’s film, as the film was to be taken over by another director.

“I was going to play the part and Tom Ford was going to direct,” Corden told Deadline during a Q&A panel about his new Amazon Prime series “Mammal.”

The British presenter and actor also said it wasn’t because Ford wanted an increased role in controlling the film. He also added that he thought he was “too young” to pull off the role compared to Fraser.

Corden in his interview revealed more that George Clooney was attached to the project at one point, but only wanted to participate if they could find an actor who was actually overweight to play the part.

Meanwhile, “Deadline” critic Pete Hammond said he verified Corden’s story: “When I spoke with Aronofsky recently, I asked him about what Corden told me, and he confirmed everything.”
