If today it is not strange, in 1974 being called Preta seemed very strange to the employee of the registry office where her father, Gilberto Gil, went to register her. She offered some resistance to the idea of ​​Preta being a first name, until Gil argued: “If it’s Branca, Bianca or Clara, can you? I think you’ve already registered many…”. She didn’t need to say anything else and then all that was heard was the tec, tec, tec of the typewriter filling out the certificate just the way Gil wanted it.
