Actor Johnny Depp has moved on with his life, now leaving behind the legal battle with his ex-wife, Amber Heard. His next artistic venture will find him directing a film about the life of the Italian painter and sculptor Modigliani. However, it emerged yesterday that his career as a painter-artist is proving far more lucrative after he sold over £4.5m worth of paintings in one week!

A series of limited edition prints of Bob Marley and actors Heath Ledger and River Phoenix have gone on sale through the Castle Fine Art Gallery in London’s Covent Garden.

A gallery spokesman said the bold and colorful prints, which cost £4,500 each or £17,500 for all four, had almost sold out within seven days.

This is the second exhibition of Johnny Depp’s “Friends and Heroes” collection. The first, featuring Bob Dylan, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, actress Elizabeth Taylor and actor Al Pacino, also sold out within hours last July.

This means that in the last seven months alone, Depp has earned more than £8m from his art. The 59-year-old “Pirates of the Caribbean” star said he was touched that people were interested in his work. He said he spends more time in Europe and the UK and loves London, which he described as a very creative environment.

“Tackling something for the first time, with no idea what’s going to start and what’s going to come out is deeply satisfying. “For people to see these things now for the first time and react the way they do, so positively, to what I’ve made is very moving,” said the famous actor.

It is not the first time that the famous actor pursues other creative outlets. In fact, he has stated in the past that music is his first love. He performed with his own band and with his friend, guitar legend Jeff Beck, who died in January. Last July they released an album together.
