REMEMBER THE CASE
It was April 14, 2022 when security cameras from the building where he lived in Sudoeste, administrative region of the Federal District, captured the exact moment when the journalist was cornered by two young people.
While one of the bandits gave Gabriel a rear-naked choke, the other hit him with ten stab wounds. The wounds were all over the body, reaching regions such as the leg, chest, abdomen and neck.
Gabriel ended up also being hit in much more delicate areas such as the stomach, lungs, pancreas and diaphragm. The reporter underwent several surgeries and took several weeks to fully recover from the attack.
According to the Civil Police, the journalist was the victim of an attempted robbery (robbery followed by death). According to the deputy delegate of the 3rd DP (Cruzeiro), Douglas Fernandes, both confessed to the crime and said they were under the influence of drugs. They had no criminal record.
Four months later, Gabriel was surprised by the reception he received in the Globo Brasília newsroom when he returned to work. He won cake, snacks and balloons on his return to the station.
