The actor recently said that eating two live cockroaches while filming ‘Vampire’s Kiss’ is one of the biggest mistakes of his career
Nicolas Cage he made it clear that he is not going to eat cockroaches again. The Oscar-winning actor recently said that eating two live cockroaches while filming the 1988 comedy “Vampire’s Kiss” is one of the biggest mistakes of his career. “I will never do that again,” Cage declared.
In the film, the actor plays a literary critic who is convinced he is a vampire. The film’s script originally called for the actor to swallow a raw egg, but Cage insisted on swallowing a cockroach instead. As he said: “I thought it would be a successful scene. When people see the cockroach going into my mouth, they really react…”.
In Cage’s new film, “Renfield“, his co-star Nicholas Hoult is the one who eats cockroaches. Although in this case, the cockroaches weren’t real.
“The cockroaches I ate in this movie were candy,” Hoult said. Although Cage will never eat insects on camera again, he mentioned that eating insects could solve a real problem.
“If you could get rid of your fear of eating insects, you could solve world hunger. High protein, zero fat, super nutrients, plenty. It’s everywhere! But no, it’s not going to happen,” he added.
