Zé Celso and Marcelo Drummond’s relationship began in 1987. The two crossed paths on a street in Rio de Janeiro, and just an exchange of glances was enough to unite them. The wedding ceremony took place on June 7 of this year, as a way of guaranteeing that Drummond would inherit Teatro Oficina.
A month after the celebration, the filmmaker died, on Thursday (6), from complications from a fire that hit his apartment in the Paraíso neighborhood, south of São Paulo. The two have already said that they lived as lovers for only seven years and that, afterwards, they decided to open the relationship, to live other stories with other people.
“This great love that unites us is a love extremely connected to the Oficina theater”, said Zé in a speech at the wedding, accompanied by column Mônica Bergamo, from Sheet.
They lived in apartments in the same building, always with Teatro Oficina as a connection. The playwright’s body began to be veiled on Thursday night (6) and lasted until dawn, with the presence of several celebrities, such as Julia Lemmertz and Alexandre Borges.
In an interview with the Terra portal, in 2021, Zé stated that he never thought about separating from Marcelo. “Even when he had boyfriends, I had others,” said Zé.
“It’s a simple thing like that. Like this: we marry to have lovers. Because marriage without a lover is very dull,” said Marcelo.
