The joke made by comedian Giovana Fagundes that quoted singer Marília Mendonça did not go down well with the artist’s fans and family. Thus, the comedian used social media to state that she did not intend to laugh at her death. Giovana apologized.
Before taking a plane trip, she said: “Look at the size of the plane they said I’m going to board. I’m going by teco-teco. I’m going by Marília Mendonça. So I’m making this story to tell everyone who loves me, that I I love you back,” he said.
With the negative repercussions, she recanted. “I was very nervous before getting on the plane, during and after. At the time, the first person who came to me was Marília Mendonça, but at no point did I want to make fun of Marília Mendonça’s death”, she began.
“I want to apologize for my mistake. We exchanged messages, she followed me on Instagram. I felt very bad when the fatal incident with Marília happened, as did the whole of Brazil. I wanted to make it clear that at no point did I intend to make a joke with death”, he added.
Mendonça’s brother, João Gustavo, complained about the comedian’s post. Without mentioning Giovana’s name, he posted on Twitter: “Do we have the Nego Di female version? What a weird and ugly thing, right!”
Ruth, Marília’s mother, also spoke. “Stop giving a stage to ridiculous people, comedians who are not successful, bad comedians, who need to use the pain of another person, a mother, a family, to make jokes. She is ridiculous.”
