There are many trends that have made their appearance in fashion recently, from barbiecore to mermaidcore and corsagecore, to name just a few. One, however, is the trend that seems to be here to stay for so long: Balletcore. The ballerina-inspired trend has been captured in makeup, hair, clothing, and even nails. This time she comes to give an alternative form to the classic ballerina.

Already, there’s a plethora of shoes inspired by this line on the market, from Sandy Liang’s silk block Mary Janes, which look like real pointe shoes, to Miu Miu’s version. However, now ballerina heels seem to be becoming the next big thing in footwear.

You may have already seen them on the feet of some it girls, like Lily-Rose Depp. But is this shoe really a good idea?

The truth is that this trend is not the best we’ve seen and it’s certainly not something brand new. From mid-2022, balletcore and its related trends, coquette and cottagecore, began to take the world by storm. All those bows, ribbons, ruffles and baby pink you see everywhere have their roots in the ballet trend.

Who was the inspiration behind the first Nutcracker style girl?

Most likely, Miu Miu is behind the birth of this trend – as is probably the case with anything very fashionable these days – and It Girls, such as the aforementioned Lily-Rose Depp. Ballerina heels first caught the fashion world’s attention when Miu Miu presented them on the runway for Fall/Winter 2022, making it instantly clear that ballet-inspired shoes are here to stay.

Similar styles continued to appear on the runways of Sandy Liang, Chanel, Rodarte and Jacquemus.

Lily Rose Depp wears red Repetto ballet flats, and has worn a similar Chanel style on the red carpet many times. Stars like Amelia Gray Hamlin and Gigi Hadid also seem to love this trend.

The rising interest in this shoe has – of course – also contributed to TikTok, through the “wrong shoe theory”, which uses shoes that would otherwise make no sense with an outfit, but somehow end up being the perfect finishing touch Touch. A big plus is that this shoe remains much more comfortable than other high heels, such as stilettos.

The great thing about this shoe is that it can replace any shoe in your wardrobe. Obviously, shoes are directly related to balletcore, so it makes sense to pair them with cute pieces, possibly pink and with bows. To achieve the look, she tried on white tights, a pink ruffled skirt, a knitted sweater and lots of bows – the kind a ballerina would wear to rehearsal. Of course, you can create countless more styles, since this shoe goes with almost anything: With wide trousers, gathered at the ends, a dress shirt or wide shorts.
