Royal biographer’s book is recalled in the Netherlands for citing members who allegedly made racist comments

by

Two years after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, there are new developments regarding an alleged racist comment made in the corridors of the British royal family’s castles.

At the time, the former actress said that royals had expressed “concerns” about Archie’s skin tone. The Duchess of Sussex never named who would be responsible, but now, two names are mentioned in the book by a royal biographer in a printed edition for the Netherlands — the same lines do not appear in the English version.

Omid Scobie, who wrote “Endgame: Inside the Royal Family”, classifies the naming of Kate Middleton and King Charles III in the book as a translation error and claims that he was not responsible for inserting them. The names were announced by English journalist Piers Morgan on his program, and the copies were removed from Dutch shelves.

“It’s still being investigated at the moment because I didn’t submit a book that named anything. I wrote and edited the English version. I’m as frustrated as everyone else with what’s happening in the Netherlands with the book. But I can only answer for the English version which wrote,” Scobie said in an interview with the British Morning Show.

In an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian, Xander, one of the editors of the Dutch translation, stated that the error will be corrected. “We are temporarily withdrawing Omid Scobie’s book from sale. An error has occurred in the Dutch translation and is being corrected.”
