Thanasis Isidorou from “Pantheus” in skai

Thanasis Isidorou he is one of the talented actors of his generation and he has proven this in many of his collaborations, mainly theatrical ones. This year, he is participating in his drama series SKAI, “The Pantheons”who plays Stefanos and speaks exclusively to skai.gr about this collaboration and reveals some of the developments. Also, it refers to the great success of the show “The Rise of Arturo Ui”at the ARK Theater.

• How would you describe the current season so far?

It’s a lucky season for me as I have a permanent role in the SKAI drama series “The Pantheons” where I’m having a really great time and in the show “The Rise of Arturo Ui” which is going really well!

• What have you gained from your collaboration with “Pantheus”?

It’s unheard of to be involved in a permanent role in a TV job and I’m always trying to pick up and learn things. Still, I’m crazy about all the colleagues and contributors. It is a whole world, different from that of the theater and at the same time very close.

• With Stefanos who you play how close or far are you as characters?

We are probably far away but I would admire him if I knew him. Some things we have in common is that I also like kindness, peace and love. Of course, Stefanos has everything to the superlative degree that can be healthy, but I don’t know if anyone who does this is happy.

• Do you consider Stefanos to be what we call a “quiet force”?

His strength comes from love and this is especially difficult for life but worth trying.

• To what extent does love protect people from various situations?

Love can protect people from various situations that we cannot fully understand or have access to, such as those who live very hard indeed and perhaps beyond the western world. Beyond that, we see people who have resources but haven’t received enough love and therefore are not happy while others feel happy with nothing because they have love around them. This feeling has tremendous power. I won’t hide from you that my own life wasn’t easy either, at a younger age, but I had love and that protected me, I didn’t get involved! Now, I have a career that I love and things that I dreamed of, are coming true.

• Then or now are you really happy?

The word happy is a bit strange. Now, I may not be as comfortable but I have different happiness than before. For example, I once had my mother, my grandmother and two friends from school, who I lived with and covered for me. Now, I have my house, my cat and a circle of good people.

• Stefanos, while he knew that Thalia did not love him and was in love with another man, decided to marry her. Why;

Stefanos is a romantic child and loves Thalia. He saw a girl always around him, he just hadn’t expressed his feelings. This is a matter of the time because back then you didn’t express your love with the… harpoon. From then on, I have not been able to interpret the element of self-sacrifice in my mind.

• Will Thalia continue to be so hard on Stefanos or will she soften up?

Let’s see… (Laughs). I have confidence in Stefanos way and maybe he won’t sleep under and next to the bed forever.

• Will his father, Chrysinas, affect their relationship? If so, in what way?

Chrysinas makes their lives difficult on a daily basis. But surely both are tormented and we will see how it will affect their relationship. However, until now we see one side of the man and people in old times and especially in closed societies were wilder.

• Now, have Stefanos’ relations with Meropi begun to be restored?

As we see in the last episodes, Meropi has started to soften towards Stefanos, so that is where the relationship between the two heroes is headed. It’s a nice writing idea, and for an actor it’s really nice to get new partners all the time. Let alone Mrs. Maximou. Personally, all my partners have helped me and given me a piece.

• Meropi guesses that Dimitris is alive! What will Stefanos’ reaction be?

If this turns out to be the case, Stefanos will find himself in a difficult position, but I don’t think he will betray himself and change. Maybe he’ll take care of that too. That is, since Merope and Thalia will not be able to handle such a development, let him take the responsibility.

• At the same time, you are participating in the show “The rise of Arturo Ui” which is staged at the ARK theater. Tell us about this collaboration.

The collaboration with Mr. Biniaris began, about three years ago, in the show “Wake up Vassilis”. It is one of the best shows I have the luck and pleasure to be in, not necessarily for money-making, artistic reasons, etc., but because it is one of the most essential. Mr. Biniaris knows how to build teams and what he does is done very organized and with gusto.

• What is the deeper message you are getting through this work?

The work and by extension the performance is an alarm to wake up again because this happens all the time. Let’s accept that fascism, Nazism exists within us and is being raised by the times. He tries hard to cultivate it in us and make us violent, intolerant and corrupt. All men have a tendency with suitable difficulty or opportunity to prove the above. Perhaps, we have become in our life without noticing it.
