The works of the renovation of the emblematic building are entering the stage of completion Villas Lumidis in Marousi, which is expected to be a modern cultural multi-space and a hub of arts and creativity both for the city and in general for the northern suburbs.

The project has a budget of 927,790.65 euros and is financed by the Green Fund and by the municipality’s own resources. Its implementation takes place in the context of the municipal Authority’s planning for urban regeneration, strategic interventions, investment plans and land utilization, in order to highlight a new face of the city. Essentially, it is part of the creation of a new cultural identity of the city, since it follows a series of projects, which include renovations of listed buildings and renovations of public spaces, such as:

– Of the “Artemis” Cultural Center, which was delivered and has already housed the visual arts learning departments and various other cultural activities, such as periodical exhibitions, lectures, reading and creative writing clubs and small musical and theatrical performances.

– The renovation of the historical building of the Olympic Municipal Gallery “Spyros Louis”.

– The regeneration of Heroes Square with the reconstruction of adjacent streets, where an open public space for recreation and greenery was created and supports the commercial activity of the city center.

“A decades-old request by the citizens of Amarousi for the reconstruction of the dilapidated and damaged building, which was sometimes also a place of delinquent behavior, is being turned into a cultural jewel”, said the mayor Theodoros Ambatzoglou, among others, and added: “With the renovation projects and the previous renovations resulted in a more widely upgraded area in the center of Amarousi. Old and modern points of cultural and historical interest are unified.”
