Nusret, the restaurant of Salt Bae, the famous eccentric chef of…literally golden fillets, may now be world famous for its expensive dishes – for example the £680 wagyu striploin steak, however, the “bad guys” rather they will comment that now it will also be known for the “crabs in the pockets” of its owner.

According to the Guardian, the restaurant announced that, among other things, it will turn off the heating in the space, aiming to “improve energy efficiency at an operational level.”

In this context they will switch off the central heating after closing, or at peak times “when demand for heating is lower”.

Also, the lights don’t stay on when the restaurant is closed.

In addition, the renovation included LED lights and an “energy-saving installation.”

The restaurant, due to open in 2021, has slashed prices in recent years and pulled signature dishes, such as the £1,450 gold-plated steak, from the menu due to the cost of living crisis.

The only dish now covered in gold is the £50 baklava.

The Salt Bae-founded company reported a 44% rise in pre-tax profits to reach £3.3m in 2022.

Sales rose by around 66% to £13.6m.

The owners of the restaurant received dividends of £2.8 million.
