Maustetytot for the first time in Athens

The two Finnish sisters are already “starring” in the music scene of their country, and not only! This winter they “dressed up” with their performance the black comedy, Fallen Leaves, by the veteran arthouse director Aki Kaurismäki, and became the talk of the town worldwide. In the film they perform in a dark karaoke bar, like plastic dolls, hardly moving their bodies and faces, and sing one of their most successful songs, taking us on a journey into their occult world. Will the end of this story be happy or not?

Maustetytöt with their unusual musical approach – unexpectedly austere stage presence, frozen faces, hyperreal pessimistic and laconic lyrics against a background of upbeat pop rhythms, deal with “difficult” topics such as alcohol, violence, mental illness and war. The Maustetytöt are definitely the other side of the coin of their home country, the “happiest country in the world” – and that seems to lead to a great recipe for success!
