Claudia Alencar remains hospitalized and is not expected to be discharged

Three months after surgery to identify the source of a bacterial infection in the spine region, Claudia Alencar remains hospitalized at Clínica São Vicente, in Gávea, south of Rio de Janeiro. According to the press office, the actress’ health condition is good and she is lucid. However, doctors have not yet given a discharge forecast.

Claudia was admitted to hospital on December 17, 2023 after being diagnosed with myofascial syndrome post-systemic infection and her spine was affected by the disease. The medical team discovered the bacteria that was causing the actress’ infection, it was staphylococcus aureusa germ that can cause skin, heart valve and bone infections, as well as pneumonia.

She was unable to walk for a period of time and needed to be intubated. Soon after, she improved and ended up being extubated. Claudia began her artistic career on TV Tupi in 1976. Ten years later, she debuted on TV Globo in the miniseries Padre Cícero as Lígia.

The actress has been away from television since 2017, when she briefly participated in the Globo soap opera “Rock Story”. She acted in “Tieta” (1989) and “Fera Ferida” (1993), also on the network, and was scheduled to work on “Beleza Fatal”, the first soap opera produced by HBO Max.
