Emotional moments unfolded on Sunday in Cannes, at the premiere of Kevin Costner’s film “Horizon: An American Saga”.

The audience gave the famous actor and director a standing ovation for 7 whole minutes, even chanting his name rhythmically. The now 69-year-old star of “Robin of the Woods” and “The Bodyguard” did not expect such a warm reception and – visibly moved – took to the podium to speak.

“I’m sorry you had to applaud so much for me to understand that I need to speak,” gushed Costner, who was accompanied by five of his seven children.

“Such nice people. Such a good time, not only for me, but also for the actors who came with me, for the people who believed in me and kept working. There is no other place like it here. I will never forget this, and neither will my children.”

The film “Horizon: An American Saga” is a personal venture of the actor – He directs and stars in the film, which he also produced and co-wrote.

The production of the film reached 100 million dollars himself mortgaged his house and ranch in Santa Barbara to pay the cost.
