Judge Graziela Bündchen, from the 1st Federal Court of Porto Alegre, was chosen to judge a public civil action that aims to force the Lula government to pay R$15 billion to the productive sector of Rio Grande do Sul and help with the reconstruction of the state.
Graziela is one of five sisters of top model Gisele Bündchen. The sector, made up of entities representing commerce, services, industry and agriculture, asks in the action that the federal government be legally obliged to pay R$ 10 billion related to what was lost due to the floods.
Another R$5 billion in moral damages for an alleged “omission” in the prevention of climate disasters, especially in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
O F5 had access to the case documents. The action was filed by the Institute of Law and Economics of Rio Grande do Sul (Iders) and the Brazilian Association of Law and Administration (Able).
Graziela was selected last week, and will have up to 30 days to analyze the case, which does not yet have an exact date for consideration. The Union will still be heard to show its defense.
Graziela Bündchen became known nationally in 2016 for a decision in favor of Lula. At the time, she dismissed a popular action that attempted to prevent the current president from being appointed as chief minister of the Civil House of Dilma’s government.
In 2016, in the context of political polarization, the judge and her top model sister were on opposite sides. On her social networks, Gisele praised Sérgio Moro and Lava Jato, posted selfies with the Brazilian flag and was a fan of hashtags such as “my party is Brazil” and “no more corruption”.
