After 12 long years of searching for a buyer, Michael Jordan has managed to sell his mansion in Chicago, United States. Built in 1995, during his peak with the Chicago Bulls, the house had an initial price of US$ 29 million (around R$ 160 million), but was sold for the price of US$ 14.9 million (R$ 82 million).
The property is located in the suburb of Highland Park, and was sold on Sunday (15), according to Katherine Malkin, from brokerage Compass, who did not give further details about the transaction. The information was confirmed by Bloomberg.
The house is situated on a 28,000 m² lot and has nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms. It also has a cigar room, a gym and a full-size basketball court, where the player used to train with his teammates. The number 23, the same number on his jersey when he played for the Bulls, is printed on the gate.
The mansion had been on the market since 2012, when it was listed for $29 million. A series of price cuts brought the price down to $14.9 million in 2015, where it has remained ever since.
Shortly after the announcement, the player moved to Florida, living in a $16.5 million property in a gated community. Since then, he has spent more than $500,000 in taxes, not counting the maintenance costs of the place, which has remained on the market until now.
