Under treatment for the cancer she has been facing since 2023, Preta Gil stated that she will undergo a new surgery on Sunday (15) to remove the tumors. The singer is in New York, where she seeks guidance for treatment after the operation.
Preta will have an appointment this Thursday (12) with an oncologist who specializes in the type of tumors she has. The treatment in the United States was a request from the singer’s doctors in Brazil.
The chemotherapy that the artist underwent after discovering the recurrence of colorectal cancer was not effective as Brazilian doctors expected.
“We have to look for alternatives in different countries, with different types of studies, trials not yet published or published, drugs that have not yet arrived in Brazil,” he said, in a video published on Instagram.
Preta was treated for colorectal cancer last year, but the disease returned in August this year and progressed to metastasis in four locations: in two structures of the lymphatic system, known as lymph nodes; in the peritoneum, the membrane that covers organs such as the intestine, liver and stomach; and in the ureter, the tube through which urine passes.
“I hope I have good news, that it can give hope that I can be treated here after the surgery,” said the singer about the American doctor.
According to Preta, the surgery scheduled for Sunday, in Brazil, is very important for recovery. She asked her fans for positive vibes.
“I don’t know how to do things in secret. I like to share things with you”, he added.
