Four years after tragedy in the ‘Rust’ set, Alec Baldwin cries when recalling the director’s death

Alec Baldwin, 66, is the protagonist of a new TLC reality. With a premiere scheduled for February 23, “The Baldwins” will show what the days of Alec Baldwin and his family are, and an excerpt from production has just been released. In it, the protagonist of “The Devil’s Judgment” cries when recalling the tragedy on the set of filming of the movie “Rust” in October 2021.

Alec’s wife, Hilaria, is the one who laments: “A son lost his mother in the most unthinkable tragedy. This is never something to forget, and we are trying to overcome it.” Alec appears covering his face and collapsing in tears. The actor then pronounces: “Honestly, from the bottom of my soul, I don’t know where it would be if I didn’t have you and these children.”

Baldwin gave an accidental shot that killed director Halyna Hutchins during the “Rust” recordings in the American state of New Mexico, United States. Real bullets were in the weapon used in one of the scenes. In January 2023, Alec Baldwin was accused of involuntary murder and was acquitted a year and a half later. The case was filed by the court in December 2024.

Alec and Hilaria have been together since 2011 and married the following year. They are parents of seven children: Carmen, 11 years old; Rafael, 9; Leonardo, 8; Romeo, 6; Eduardo, 4; And María, 3. The actor also has a daughter, Ireland Baldwin, 29, the result of his previous relationship with Kim Basinger.

While filming shows the couple taking care of their children, Hilaria recognizes their “bad times” and adds: “We find our base. We are solid and we are here together.”
