The Acropolis Museum Participates in the celebration of International Museum Day on “The Future of Museums in Lasting Change Societies” Saturday 17 May 2025 and on Sunday, May 18, 2025, with the following actions for visitors:

Saturday 17 May 2025:

On Saturday, May 17, the Museum will be open from 9am to 8pm with a regular general entry ticket. The second floor restaurant will be open until midnight (phone bookings 210 9000915).

As every Saturday at 11am, visitors will be able to attend the thematic presentation “Water Routes: Water from nature to myth and city” Under the guidance of an archaeologist, visitors are looking for an ancient perception of water at the museum’s exhibits exhibited in its permanent collections, both in the building and in the “Museum of the Excavation”.

The same afternoon, at 6:30 pm, as part of the new AllSpice Exhibition | Michael Rakowitz & Ancient Cultures presented from 13/05 to 31/10/2025 in the Magazine Exhibition Hall, in co-organizing with the NEON Cultural and Development Organization, the Museum hosts the artist “Dimitrios Pantermalis” Kountouri, Director of NEON.

Sunday 18 May 2025:

On Sunday, May 18, the Museum will be open from 9am to 8pm with free admission to all exhibitions. The restaurant will also work at the same time.

On this day, the Museum will inaugurate the presentations of the new ALLSPICE Magazine | Michael Rakowitz & Ancient Cultures. The archaeologists of the museum will present original ancient artifacts from Mesopotamia and the Southeast Mediterranean, in a dialogue with a series of contemporary works by internationally recognized Iraqi American artist Michael Rakowitz. Through their tour of the exhibition, visitors will ‘experience’ issues of loss, looting, violent persecution of people and cultural goods due to war, colonialism or forced migration and will reflect on the role of museums as Arks of Human History, Source of Understanding.
