Kevin Costner is sued for makeshift rape in ‘Horizon 2’

Kevin Costner, 70, was charged with sexual harassment by Devyn Labella, stuntman Ella Hunt during the recordings of “Horizon 2”. The complaint was filed on Tuesday (27) at the California Superior Court, in the United States. In addition to playing the character Hayes Ellison, the actor was director and producer of the 2024 film.

According to Labella, she was in a hurry to replace Hunt, who would have refused to record a rape scene. The stuntman states that the filming was improvised, performed without rehearsal, without its prior consent, without the presence of an intimacy coordinator and in a closed set – standard measures for intimate content scenes. “That day, I was exposed, unprotected and deeply betrayed by a system that promised security and professionalism,” he told Variety.

The stuntman also reported that, the day before, participated in a similar scene, with defined script, controlled environment and proper supervision. “Our client was subjected to brutal sexual conduct,” said his lawyer, Kate McFarlane, who classified the episode as a reflection of a “macho and male -dominated environment” still present in Hollywood productions.

According to the complaint, Costner was instructed to “assemble, immobilize and raise the stunt” skirt “during the scene. The actor’s defense, however, denies all the allegations. In a statement issued on Wednesday (28), lawyer Marty Singer classified the action as “without merit” and said that Labella is a “recurring accuser in the entertainment industry.”

Singer also claimed that the stuntman was informed in advance about the scene, participated in rehearsal and would have positively signaled to the stunt coordinator, indicating his agreement. According to him, Labella would still have dinner with the team that same night “without expressing any complaint.”
