Eurovision 2022: The votes of the juries of 6 countries have been removed for manipulation – Which countries are

Voting manipulation scandal at this year’s Eurovision officially announced by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

The scores from the 40 juries had just begun to be announced by the representatives of the countries in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, when the EBU published a rather unusual announcement: Six of the votes considered suspicious, and were replaced by a cumulative result, calculated on the basis of the results of other countries with similar voting patterns.

The EBU announcement

“As part of the analysis of the jury’s vote by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) pan-European voting partner after the second rehearsal of the 2nd Semifinal of the Eurovision 2022 Song Contest, some irregular voting patterns were identified in the results of six countries.

In order to comply with the Voting Instructions of the Competition, the EBU worked with its electoral partner to calculate a substitute aggregate result for each country concerned, both for the Second Semifinal and for the Grand Final (calculated based on the results files of other countries with a similar vote).

This process was recognized by the Independent Voting Monitor.

The EBU takes any suspected attempt to manipulate the Eurovision Song Contest extremely seriously and has the right to withdraw these votes in accordance with the Official Voting Guidelines, regardless of whether these votes are likely to affect the outcome and / or outcome. of the vote “.

According to eurovisionworld, the six countries in which the jury votes were withdrawn are: Azerbaijan, Georgia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and San Marino.

Victoria Chalkiti, chairwoman of the Greek jury, stressed to ERT that the whole voting process is very strict.
“Everyone is alone. He has a notary, he also has a person from EBU and he controls us that we neither discuss nor comment. We have a person in front of us who is watching over us. We can not say much, for example “oh, this is perfect!” He said characteristically.
