On Sunday, May 8, 2022, the Rhetoric Team of Doukas High School participated in the High Rhetorical Art Games of Gymnasiums. “Sayings and Anti-Sayings”.
This is an event that started in 2017 by a group of teachers who loved the Word and they took care to pass this love on to the students through the Rhetoric groups. Through the Art of Rhetoric, students highlight the talents and enrich the psychic world of children. In particular, their participation in Rhetoric Games, as they testify, is a challenge that fills them with excitement and energy, and at the same time a celebration, where they make acquaintances and friendships.
The games were held under the auspices of the Municipality of Paleo Faliro, with the support of MPS “Rhetoric, Humanities and Education” and the Hellenic Union for the Promotion of Rhetoric in Education, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Religions, as well as the IEP . The event, in which Douka Schools participated as organizers, among 14 schools in Attica, hosted live the 5th High School of Paleo Faliro.
The students of the Rhetoric High School Group of Douka Schools, under the guidance and preparation of their responsible teacher Mr. K. Drillisparticipated in the competitions of Expressive Reading and Spontaneous Speech, competing students from 24 schools of Attica.
More specifically, in the Expressive Reading, the students G. Saramantis (Α΄3) and A. Kaladamis (Γ΄3) competed. The children showed a very good presence and emerged in the top ten of the best speakers.
In addition, N. Lentza (AD1), K. Koutsouri (DG1) and I. Dontos (DG4) competed in the Spontaneous Speech competition. The first two students also managed to stand out among the first ten speakers, while the student I. DONTOS WON THE 1ST PLACE, impressing the judges and the audience with his etymology and eloquence!
It is worth mentioning that the majority of students participated for the first time in such an event and in fact for life. These are children who participated in the Rhetoric Group for the first year, while two of the participants come from the High School. It is noteworthy that children without previous rhetorical experience managed to evolve in a unique way and to such an extent this year.
Once again, high school students managed to become ambassadors of morality and fruitful interest in cultivating their thinking and speech. It is at least hopeful that in such times young people do not remain passive, but give the potential “present” and prove that their voice has weight and should be heard.
