Vaccination against Covid for children aged between six months and two years, 11 months and 29 days old – that is, under three years old – with comorbidities in the city of São Paulo starts next Thursday (17).
The capital’s health department says it received 34,800 doses of pediatric Pfizer, the only immunizer authorized so far in Brazil for use among children in this age group.
In the first phase, doses will be administered to children in this group with comorbidities, permanent disability, immunosuppression and also indigenous children.
Those responsible must take the children to the vaccination posts with proof of risk conditions. Recipes, reports or other documents can be used, as long as they contain the child’s identification, medical stamp and are valid for two years.
Vaccination takes place at the UBSs, from Monday to Friday, and at the integrated UBSs, on Saturdays, from 7 am to 7 pm. After the first dose, the paste recommends that the second be applied four weeks later, and the third eight weeks after the second.
The priority is the vaccination of children with comorbidities. However, if there are any vaccines left at the end of the day, residents of the region of each UBS can take children under three years old to try to get one of the remaining doses, as long as they present proof of address.
The doses began to be distributed by the Ministry of Health last Thursday (10). Of the total of 1 million doses, the state of São Paulo should receive 206,300 vaccines.
The use of the Pfizer vaccine for children with comorbidities was approved at the end of October by Anvisa.
