Patients treated during the coronavirus Omicron variant wave have a lower chance of getting seriously ill and need admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), in relation to the Delta era, according to a new study from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The researchers, who published the study in the CDC’s Morbidity & Mortality Weekly Report, compared 339 patients treated with Covid-19 in July-September 2021 (when Delta was dominant) with 737 patients in December. 2021-January 2022 (when Omicron ruled).
