Dakis passed away

Sadness spread the news of Daki’s death song at age 79 after battle with cancer.

Dakis was born on August 26, 1943 in Alexandria, Egypt. The 1963 came to Greece and almost a year later he starts singing in places of entertainment and spectacles and at the same time in 1964 he records his first album in English entitled “Deep in the heart of Athens” followed by records that were immediately a great success at French, Italian and English. Indicatively the successes of that period were: Monsieur Cannibal, Tu Veux ou tu veux pas, Mourir ou vivre, Gaston. He speaks six languages ​​(Greek, French, English, Italian, Spanish and Arabic), which allows him to perform in an international repertoire.

The 1968 recorded his first album in Greek entitled “Hello thank you” with the composer Costas Xenakis and immediately after follows his first collaboration with him Mimi Plessa and timeless successes “So many summers” and “That morning in Kifissia”, where the response of the audience quickly placed him among the most sought after performers of that time.

He had collaborated with Greek composers such as: Mimis Plessas, Giannis Spanos, George Katsaros, George Chatzinassios, Costas Chatzis, Robert Williams, Alexis Papadimitriou, George Manikas, Sakis Tsilikis, Haris Chalkitis, Kangaris Nikis Lavranos, Nikos Karvelas, Alekos Chrysovergis, George Theodosiadis and others.

He had sung lyrics by lyricists such as Pythagoras, Lefteris Papadopoulos, Manos Eleftheriou, Dimitris Iatropoulos, Sotia Tsotou, Xenofontas Fyleris, Thanos Sofos, Roni Sofou and others.

In fact, he had made many live appearances in places of entertainment such as: “Rex”, “Diogenis Palace”, “Fairy”, “Fantasy”, “Stars”, “Athena”, “Ribas” and collaborated with Marinella, Costa Hatzi, Giannis Pario, Haris Alexiou, Anna Vissi and others. He has worked internationally with the Rolling Stones, Charles Aznavour, Dalida, Milva, Joe Dassen, Sasha Distel and Demi Rousseau, with whom he was cousins.[1]

At the same time, he had participated in many theatrical performances, at the Vembo Theaters, Park, Kotopouli-Rex and elsewhere. He has also appeared in TV shows and in Greek movies such as “Mermaids and dudes”, “My aunt the hippie” etc.

She represented Greece in an International Song Festival, winning distinctions and awards.

His discography so far consists of 39 LP & CDs and 19 singles & 45 arias. The most recent record is the CD entitled “Moments” (MINOS 2008) by Mimi Plessas where Dakis sings in 7 languages.
