The area affected in July corresponds to approximately 60% of the cumulative burned areas of our country as of January 1, 2022.

The big ones forest fires that occurred during this year July in our country they affected a total area greater than 130,000 acres.

The area affected in July (around 132,720 hectares) corresponds to approximately 60% of the total burned areas of our country from January 1, 2022 (approximately 215,000 acres).

In detail, in July (1st to 31st) the fires burned approx 40,000 acres in Dadia Evros, 27,800 acres in Penteli, 24,500 acres in Lesbos, 20,020 acres in Melampes of Crete, 12,150 acres in Itea and 8,250 acres in Portes Peloponnese.

The data was collected and processed by the FLAME pyrometeorological team of the National Observatory of Athens (EAA) / meteo.gr from the European Forest Fire Observatory (EFFIS) and the Copernicus Rapid Mapping Service of the European Union.
