Air-conditioned areas were opened in Attica due to the heat

The municipalities of Attica are on their feet from today in view of the heat wave that is expected this three days. The municipal services focus their attention on the protection of the citizens and especially those who belong to the vulnerable groups.

Already, all municipalities have announced the operation of air-conditioned spaces in municipal buildings, such as KAPI, halls in Cultural Centers, etc., from the morning until the evening, for the hospitality and protection of citizens who feel they need it.

At the same time, they issue advice for citizens to follow on these hot days, as well as instructions for helping someone who may suffer heatstroke. With announcements, they recommend, especially to the vulnerable groups of the population, to follow the general instructions to avoid the consequences that exposure to high temperatures may have and, just in case, they have made emergency telephone numbers available to the public. Depending on the meteorological forecasts, the further operation of the air-conditioned areas will be determined for the next period as well.

Finally, the Civil Protection forces of the municipalities of Attica have also been put on alert, to intervene if and where necessary.
