A monetary amount of 30,000 euros were alerted by an elderly woman in Thessaloniki under the pretense that someone close to her had been injured and immediate surgery was required.

In particular, during a coordinated police operation, at the Makedonia intercity bus station, on a bus bound for Bulgaria, a 67-year-old woman was identified in whose possession was found the sum of 21,650 euros, as well as 229 US dollars.

As emerged from the police investigation, the amount of 21,650 euros comes from a case of telephone fraud of an elderly woman, under the pretext of injuring a familiar person.

Specifically, it is part of the total amount of 30,000 euros that the elderly woman handed over to another woman, after a phone call she received from an alleged doctor, who claimed that a relative of hers had been injured and that money was required.

The arrested person with the case filed against her will be taken to the competent judicial authorities, while the investigation continues for the identification of the other persons involved in the case. The seized amount was returned to its rightful owner.
