The joint decision of the Ministers of Finance, Development and Investments, Infrastructure and Transport and State was published (Government Gazette B’ 4859/14.09.2022), which provides for the expansion of the scope of beneficiaries of first aid against housing assistance, now including property owners of the Primary School Community of Megareon who were affected by the her fire July 20th (Attica), of the Municipal Community You swear affected by the fire of July 23 (Lesvos), as well as the Municipal Unit Crestana that were affected by the fire of July 24 (Ilia).

At the same time – according to an announcement by the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Christos Triandopoulos– an extension is foreseen until October 5 of the deadline for submitting applications for first aid against housing assistance for those affected by the fires that occurred in areas of the Attica Region on July 19, 2022. The same deadline for submitting applications also applies to new beneficiaries.

On the occasion of the publication of the joint decision, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Responsible for State Aid and Rehabilitation from Natural Disasters, Mr. Christos Triandopoulos, made the following statement: “With the publication of the amending joint decision of the Ministers of Finance, Development and Investments, of Infrastructure and Transport and State, the fire victims of Megara, Vrisa and Krestena are also included in the scope of the beneficiaries of first aid against housing assistance.

It also extends until October 5 the deadline for submitting first aid applications for housing assistance for the fire victims of Penteli. The arogi.gov.gr platform has already been opened for this purpose, by Friday, August 19. The same deadline applies to the submission of applications for new beneficiaries.

Therefore, we invite both existing and new beneficiaries to submit an application in order to receive first aid against housing assistance. I remind you that the aid can reach 14,000 euros, depending on the extent of the damage to each property. The Government is continuing the implementation of the plan it announced in good time to support our fellow citizens affected by fires, in cooperation with all the relevant agencies”.

Regarding the first aid procedureany owner affected by the fire can submit an application on the arogi.gov.gr platform and request first aid assistance against housing assistance, for a property for which he is going to submit an application for housing assistance, in accordance with the provisions of the following data 254809/DAEFK-KE /A325/09.08.2022 (Government Gazette B΄ 4332/12.08.2022) joint ministerial decision, to the competent Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

The property must have been inspected by the competent services of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and judged to be:

  • unsafe for use (“RED”) according to the re-inspection sheet or dangerous ready according to a Building Dangerous Ready Autopsy Protocol or totally damaged according to a Totally Damaged Building Postmortem Report or
  • temporarily unfit for use (“YELLOW”) according to the re-inspection sheet or Autopsy Report.

During the application, the properties located in the areas affected by the fires of the 19th, 20th, 23rd and 24th of July are pre-filled, from the current property situation, as formed by the last statement E9 and in accordance with the specific provisions of the KYA . When submitting the application, the corresponding bulletin or Report or Protocol of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport must be attached.

In the event that an application and file for the granting of housing assistance for the restoration of the affected building is not submitted within the prescribed deadlines, or the applicant is not deemed eligible for free state assistance for housing assistance after the examination of the file by the competent department of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, then the total aid amount is returned to the Greek State as unduly paid.
