Two Stars 2022 Athens MICHELIN Guide and One Green Star for Delta Restaurant

by

This distinction takes on even greater dimensions and places Delta Restaurant in the top 3% of a select elite of restaurants worldwide, as for the first time in Greece a restaurant is judged worthy of Two MICHELIN Stars and One MICHELIN Green Star from the first evaluation.

After about a year of operation, Delta Restaurant proves to be a new force in the culinary sphere, managing to be awarded with Two MICHELIN Guide Athens Stars and One MICHELIN Green Star for Sustainable Gastronomy.

This distinction takes on even greater dimensions and places Delta Restaurant in the top 3% of a select elite of restaurants worldwide, as for the first time in Greece a restaurant is judged worthy of Two MICHELIN Stars and One MICHELIN Green Star from the first evaluation.

Equally important, however, is the Green Star, a distinction that is directly linked to sustainability and helps the visitor to recognize the particularly valuable combination of haute cuisine and commitment to the principles of sustainability.

With our basic principle of “no loss, no waste”, we make sure that every material participates in a cycle that can start with the starters, continue with the mains and finish with the desserts.

These distinctions come to reward the effort made by the chefs of the restaurant Giorgos Papazacharias and Thanos Fescos to change the Greek culinary status quo, the unique wine selections of Aris Sklavenitis, which function as the necessary punctuation points by enhancing taste and aftertaste, the persistence of the “Deipnosophistrio” of Dimitris Christofileas, Takis Christofileas, Diomidis Kapsalis and Dimitris Skarmoutsou to choose the innovation and vision of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) which is a landmark of modern Greece, a public space open to all but also a model of environmental sustainability in terms of design, construction, operation and footprint in the wider ecosystem.

Delta was created with the initiative and donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) with the aim of becoming a model culinary destination worthy of the high standards of the SNFCC, at the same time highlighting Greek cuisine to the whole world.

Referring to this important project, Mr. Andreas Drakopoulos, President of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), said: “Congratulations to Giorgos Papazacharias, Thanos Fescos and the entire team of the Delta restaurant, as well as the Deipnosophistrio!

Within about a year of operation, and through adverse conditions, the restaurant managed to win one of the most important international distinctions in the field, highlighting Delta as one of the most unique culinary destinations.

All of us, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), feel particularly happy and proud to have believed in and supported this effort, and to see the vision for the creation of Delta – which complements the SNFCC’s identity as an international model, environmentally sustainable public space – to become a reality, to be recognized and experienced as a unique taste experience”.

Also Ms. Elli Andriopoulou, Managing Director of SNFCC said “We are excited and proud of George Papazacharias, Thanos Fescos and the entire Delta team for their particularly important, worldwide, distinction.

This announcement comes as a culmination of hard work and creativity, which has paid off so quickly, rewarding them with two Michelin stars.

The collaboration of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center with the Deipnosophistryon, thanks to the initiative and donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, was founded on the goal of a pioneering meeting of gastronomy and culture, which complements the SNFCC’s identity as an international cultural landmark.

Today we feel more than ever that this goal has been achieved.”

With humility and a sense of responsibility we embrace this distinction, we commit to continue serving the triptych of “gastronomy, sustainability, culture” and we hope that for many more years our “sunflowers” will bloom under the culinary Attic sky.
