The woman was reportedly in the same vehicle as the man who was found dead earlier.

A 50-year-old man and father of 2 died in Agia Pelagia in Heraklion, Crete when he was trapped in his vehicle which was swept away by the rapids.

At the same time, information indicates that two more people – a man and a woman – are missing.

Firefighters rescued a woman safely from a vehicle that ended up in the sea in the Lygaria area of ​​Heraklion, Crete, and according to the Fire Department, there are 9 cases of cars that have been swept away and are being investigated.

According to the deputy governor Heraklion Nikos Syrigonakis the man was found by divers outside the vehicle they were in earlier when it was swept away by a torrent.

At the same time, according to testimonies that reached the authorities, residents of the area saw another person being swept away by the rushing waters, without any further details being known.

EMAK crews are already at the scene, while information indicates that divers are also at the scene, while the cars are literally in the sea.

The heavy rainfall turned the roads into rivers in a matter of hours causing untold damage to shops, houses and vehicles that were washed away by the rushing waters.
