The incredible cause that caused the feud between them
The Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki imposed a prison sentence of 2 years and 10 months to a 46-year-old, because he tried to cause bodily harm to his 49-year-old neighbor, whom he chased, holding an ax and a saw in his hands. But he slipped and fell to the ground, as a result of which the victim immobilized him and disarmed him.
The perpetrator, who was under the influence of alcohol and was making threats against the victim’s life, he was finally arrested and after his apology he was temporarily detained. The incident took place in November 2021, in the city of Katerini.
There seems to have been a feud between the two neighbors, due to an earlier incident, when, according to the case file, the 46-year-old accused urinated near the 49-year-old’s house his neighbor. Since then, it seems that more incidents have followed between them, culminating in this one, for which the 46-year-old was accused of attempted murder.
Conversion of charge and suspension of sentence
The Court eventually changed the charge to attempted grievous bodily harm, an act for which he was found guilty, as well as threatening, insulting and illegally carrying a weapon. The sentence was decided to be suspended for three years, under the condition of being prohibited from approaching and communicating with the victim.
“There was no way I could hurt him, I just wanted to scare him,” the 46-year-old said in his apology. “I was hoping he would apologize to me,” he added, among other things in his apology.
For his part, the victim in his testimony in court noted that he was saved by luck. “I had a Saint” he said characteristically.
