These among others are highlighted in a tourist brochure distributed at the recent conference on alternative tourismin which Lake Plastira is described for the visitor for each season of the year.

Autumn is mentioned, it is an ideal season for those who love changing colors. From the brown, the yellow, the orange, the deep green of the fir, the blue of the waters of the lake that becomes a huge mirror where incredible visual landscapes are reflected in it, so much so that it looks like you are in the workshop while God is painting! If you’re lucky and it’s foggy, then the lake turns into a movie set where you’re the protagonist as you write the script with your choices. And he concludes by emphasizing: “All seasons offer activities, but autumn has unique colors and the experience is unique!”.

Lake Plastira, the mayor of the Municipality of Lake Plastira of the Karditsa Regional Unit, emphasizes to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, Panagiotis Nanos, is offered for alternative activities and gentle forms of exercise, above all for experiential experiences in the mountains and the forest, adding: “The municipality in this context has organized for all ages unique lakeside routes and hiking, mountaineering, sports competitions, mountain biking, even route for the disabled, next to the lake. THE Plastira Lake, according to data from the municipal authority, is located on the plateau of Nevropolis in the western part of the Prefecture of Karditsa. It is an artificial lake, formed by human intervention. It was formed in 1959 with the completion of the dam at the southern end of the headwaters of the Tauropos or Megdova river. The depth of the lake varies and is determined by the topography of the area before it is covered by water. It contains 400 million cubic meters of water, has a maximum length of 12 km, a width of 4 km and its total surface is 24 km. Its maximum depth reaches 60 m and the highest altitude reaches 750 m. In the area we also find many species of birds, such as herons, blackbirds, various types of gulls, grebes and cormorants, while we will rarely see egrets, vultures, peregrines and golden eagles. On its banks one meets foxes, wolves, wild boars, badgers, weasels and more rarely bears, deer, and wild cats. The most representative species of flora in the area, between 700 and 900 meters altitude, are the broad-leaved oak, locally called Dendros, up to 1500 meters the fir, while higher up pseudo-alpine vegetation begins. There are also types of herbaceous vegetation such as ferns, geraniums, cyclamen, crocuses, daffodils, species of orchid etc.
