“Environment and Climate Action Plan” by the Bodosaki Foundation

The Action Plan is developed in seven main sections, which focus on the biggest environmental challenges facing and will face both ours and the next generation

The Bodosaki Foundation presents the Action Plan for the Environment and Climate until 2030, in the context of its participation in the “Initiative 1821-2021” and following the creation of the Action Plans for the University of 2030 and for the upgrade of Public Health. This Action Plan summarizes the state of the environment in Greece today and concludes with proposals for critical reforms of a horizontal nature to achieve the preservation of the environment at the desired levels. In fact, it will be presented as a discussion text on November 29 at the Athens Concert Hall, in the presence of A.E. of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

For the creation of the Action Plan, the following Scientific Committee was established at the invitation of the Bodosakis Foundation:

• Dimitris Karavellas, Coordinator of the Scientific Committee, Director General of WWF Greece

• Miss VokouProfessor Emeritus, Department of Biology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.P.Th.)

• Demosthenes SarigiannisProfessor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.P.Th.)

In the formulation of the Action Plan, she participated as a scientific collaborator Theodota Nantsou, Head of Environmental Policy of WWF Greece. In addition, 17 scientists with an international track record, mainly from academia, contributed with their constructive commentary to the 2030 Environment and Climate Action Plan.

The Action Plan is developed in seven main sections, which focus on the biggest environmental challenges that both ours and the next generation face: 1. Climate stability, 2. Conservation of biodiversity, 3. Clean air, 4. Healthy soils and clean waters, 5. Circular economy and conservation of natural resources, 6. Human health and the state of the environment, 7. Active Civil Society.

As noted in the relevant announcement, for the Bodosaki Foundation, environmental protection is a fundamental condition for public health, the country’s sustainable economic life and social well-being.

As it became known, for the Action Plan, the Scientific Committee will accept comments and questions by email: [email protected] until November 25, with the aim of being taken into account in the final formulation of the Plan and the related texts.
