“Household basket”: From today and products for diabetics – Which ones are added

From today, Wednesday, November 30, 2021, new products, such as those for diabetics, will be added to the “household basket”, while existing categories will also be expanded in the direction of covering more needs for consumers.

As the leadership of the Ministry of Development and Investments has announced, the “holiday basket” will also be announced in the near future.

As far as the “household basket” is concerned, the categories “sweetening substances suitable for consumption by diabetics” such as stevia and other products of the same category as well as oat products are now included.

At the same time, the category of “frozen vegetables” is expanded with the provision that there will be two products from the categories of “peas”, “okra” and “beans”.

However, it is noted that the basket, since the start of the measure, already includes five categories of food suitable for diabetics as well as consumers with other nutritional problems, such as fresh low-fat milk, low-fat unflavored cow’s milk yogurt, low-fat cheese , while the possibility of including other items concerning consumers with intolerance to certain ingredients such as lactose and gluten is also being considered.

In addition, it is recalled that in the products of the basket, the categories “sanitary pads” and “tampons” are merged, while the category “tea or chamomile” is deleted.

Finally, it is recalled that as of December 1, all businesses participating in the basket have received instructions to harmonize with the ministry’s decision regarding the special markings on the shelves, while there will also be fines if the marking is not correct.
