Mr. Mitsotakis referred to the targeted steps that have been taken to remove the obstacles faced by people with disabilities

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent his own message for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities through his Facebook account.

Specifically, Mr. Mitsotakis wrote:

“We honor the International Day of Persons with Disabilities not with abstract slogans, but with four more targeted steps. Thus, the application of the Digital Disability Card, which operates from November 1, is generalized for all categories. A new employment program for 3,000 PWDs is also being launched with a subsidy for their salary and contributions. A Digital Training School for people with autism problems is established. While the pilot application of the “Personal Assistant” at home is being promoted nationwide.

After the extraordinary financial support of the State, a few days ago the bill was passed in the Parliament which improves the accessibility of products and services for Persons with Disabilities. And, the National Digital Disability Portal, the Electronic Certification Centers and the Digital Registry are already operational. Nodes of information, service and, above all, simplifying the participation of the disabled in social life. The road ahead, however, is still long.

That is why we meet on International Disability Day, making our own effort every day to remove the obstacles that do not allow these fellow citizens to experience what they are entitled to. No discrimination and outdated notions. In a society of unity, understanding and solidarity. Where everyone will make use of their skills, having the State as their supporter, but also their neighbor. So that we all live together in a Greece that marches forward and aims high”.
