Within two weeks they had committed several robberies collecting cash, jewelry and other items, with a total value of 332,000 euros
The Greek Police released the information four gang memberswhich committed robberies, house burglaries and thefts of state license plates in areas of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki and mainly in Panorama.
In detail, the ELAS announcement states:
“Following a relevant Order of the Thessaloniki First Instance Prosecutor’s Office, the identity details and photographs of four citizens, against whom criminal proceedings were brought, are being made public for:
• distinguished case of thefts, carried out and attempted, in continuation and by complicity, committed by more than two who were organized for the purpose of committing thefts, by complicity and in continuation, committed and attempted and by profession and the total value of the removed items exceeds 120,000 euros,
• robbery with complicity in an attempt,
• robbery by complicity,
• repeated theft and
• gang,
Acts which allegedly took place in Thessaloniki during the period 10-28-2022 to 11-15-2022.
The specific disclosure, in accordance with the relevant Prosecutor’s Order, aims to protect society as a whole, minors, vulnerable or powerless population groups and to facilitate the realization of the State’s claim for the hell of the above offenses.
In this context, citizens are requested to contact the telephone numbers 2310-388328 and 2310-388320 of the Property Crimes Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, to provide any relevant information. It is noted that the anonymity and confidentiality of the communication is guaranteed.
It is pointed out that this publication is valid until 05-22-2023, according to the Prosecutor’s Order. Beyond this time limit, the retention and/or reproduction of the disclosure of the above data is not permitted and is against the law.
The perpetrators stole number plates from citizens’ vehicles, placed them in their own, “official” vehicle and with this they committed robberies and burglaries, even committing criminal acts, from which they managed to collect a total of cash, jewelry and other items of total value €332,000.
The three arrested were located in the areas of Diavati and Kordelios, while these are people who have been employed by the police authorities in the past.
Their modus operandi
The perpetrators, in four cases, removed license plates from vehicles and placed them on their own, so that they could not be detected by the police authorities.
Always having his facial features covereds, the perpetrators using their vehicle managed 19 burglaries and robberies in the areas of Panorama, Pylaia, Oreokastro and Thermi, while they “hit” houses in Neapoli and Nikopoli as well, as emphasized by the Security Director of Thessaloniki, Brigadier General Stavros Keselidis and the Head of GATH, Christos Dimitrakopoulos.
The perpetrators even managed to collect their huge loot in just 15 days, while on Friday (11/11) a 70 years old he perceived their presence in his home, in the area of Panorama.
The victim chased them with his IX vehicle. The two vehicles collided and the perpetrators stopped and broke the old man’s windshield with an iron rod.
This moment, but also others video from security cameras of relatives of the victims helped the authorities to identify the four Roma.
The message of Taxiarchos Keselides, however, regarding the pursuit of the perpetrators by the 70-year-old, was clear:
“We think safety and human life come first. Citizens should contact the competent authorities with 100 as the first stop, so that the professionals can take over,” he said.
