They were acquitted of the charge of negligent homicide by complicity the two doctors – urologists from Lamia and Volos respectively, who handled the hospitalization of a 69-year-old man from Lamia in June 2016.
The Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Lamia after a long sessionhe ruled that the two doctors acted as required by the Hippocratic Oath and that there were no omissions and failures by them in the performance of their duties.
The history
The unfortunate man was transferred to the Emergency Department of Lamia General Hospital on June 27, 2016, feverish, with abdominal pain that also reflected in the kidney area. There, after the necessary clinical laboratory and imaging tests were performed and the responsible doctor was informed of the seriousness of the patient’s condition, it was decided to transfer him to the Volos Hospital, where he was received by the second accused doctor, with the 69-year-old unfortunately ending up the next morning.
The family of the deceased accused them two doctors as responsible for the death of their man and the case reached the audience after 6.5 years, with the Court finally deciding that they are innocent.
