Specifically, on November 22, 2022 the Coast Guard rescued people on board a boat in the south of Crete that included 112 unaccompanied minors from Syria and Egypt, while on December 5, 2022 it rescued another boat in Messinia that included 35 unaccompanied minors from Afghanistan.

The rescued persons remained temporarily at the Malakasa Reception and Identification Center (KYT) and after the necessary recording and assistance actions were taken to emergency shelters for unaccompanied minors managed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the announcement concludes.

New resources of 3,912,400 euros are available from the Solidarity Fund to support local communities

Additional funding of 3.91 million euros was approved by the Solidarity Fund to nine Local Government Organizations (OTAs) of the A’ degree and their legal entities, in the context of the support of local societies that contribute to the management of immigration, according to another announcement.

In particular, the municipality of Eastern Samos, the municipality of Andravida-Kyllini, the municipality of Veria, the municipality of Western Lesbos, the municipality of Corinthia, the municipality of Kythira, the municipality of Larissa, the municipality of Mytilini and the Development Organization “Mytilini SA.” are subsidized with a total of 3.91 million euros, for municipal projects, after proposals submitted at their discretion and based on local needs.

A total of 134 projects amounting to 62,007,574.43 euros have been approved in 37 local government organizations (OTAs) of the first and second degree, their legal entities under public law, as well as legal entities under private law, the majority of whose share capital belongs to the OTAs .
