The President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou has called a meeting for next Monday, the 16th of the month in which the Presidents of the supreme courts of the country, Evangelia Nikas from the Supreme Court, Maria Georgiou from the Supreme Court and Ioannis Sharmas from the Court of Auditors, as well as the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Isidoros Dogiakos, have been invited to participate.
The President of the Plenary Session of the Bar Associations of the country and President of the Athens Bar Association, Dimitris Vervesos, and the President of the Federation of Judicial Officers, Georgios Diamantis, have also been invited.
The President’s move to deal with the problems of justice is part of her interest in major institutional issues, demonstrating the magnitude of the problems plaguing the operation of justice, which is considered, by common confession, the great patient of the state.
During the meeting, there will be an exchange of views on measures to be taken in order to deal with the problems of malfunctioning of our judicial system, which is cancerous in many areas, showing extremely slow rates of justice.
The President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou after all, he knows the prevailing situation from the inside, as three years ago before taking office as President of the Republic, he was the president of the Council of State, in which he served as a judge for about 35 years.
Regarding the state of justice, its chronic pathologies and its problems, there have been institutional interventions in recent years, but the administration of justice is a multifactorial problem that requires coordinated efforts to solve it. The move of the President of the Republic is also part of the institutional initiatives.
