Shortly after 12:30, the body of the 29-year-old co-pilot of the fatal Phantom of the Air Force, which crashed on Monday off Andravida, was buried at the cemetery of Agios Ioannis Pikerniou Mantineia, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
A crowd of people, friends and relatives of the sergeant followed the procession from the Holy Church of Prophet Ilias in Tripoli, where the exodus procession took place earlier in an atmosphere of indescribable sadness, to the village of Pickerni for the burial.
The President of the Republic laid a wreath at the grave, while the head of the General Assembly handed over the sword and the flag.
After the burial was completed, an Air Force salute fired shots into the air followed by the playing of the National Anthem.
Among others, the leader of the official opposition, Alexis Tsipras, the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, the Deputy Minister of National Defense, Nikos Hardalias, the head of the Greek Army, General Konstantinos Floros, the head of the General Staff of the General Staff (I), Themistocles Bourolias, attended the funeral. the head of the GES, lieutenant general Angelos Houdeloudis, the head of the GEN, vice admiral Ioannis Drymousis PN, MPs and representatives of the Local Self-Government as well as retired and active officers of the Armed Forces.
