One of the most traditional sweets in Italian cuisine, tiramisu has a date dedicated just to it. This Tuesday, March 21, International Tiramisu Day is celebrated. The date was created in 2017.

The dessert combines, in layers, champagne biscuit soaked in coffee, mascarpone cream – a type of creamy cow cheese – and cocoa powder, which results in a mixture of bitter and sweet.

This is the basis of the classic recipe, but each restaurant makes its own version — adding, for example, a touch of marsala wine.

Aguzzo Cucina

At the Italian-inspired restaurant, tiramisu combines mascarpone, coffee and chocolate. The dessert costs R$45 and is served chilled and drizzled with chocolate sauce.

Fasano

Fasano’s tiramisu is one of the most traditional in the city. Here, it is assembled at the time of order with layers of mascarpone cream, English biscuit soaked in coffee and marsala wine and topped with cocoa powder. The dessert was inspired by the recipe of the grandmother of the restaurant’s chef, the Italian Luca Gozzani. It costs BRL 66.

Chef Salvatore Loi offers a classic version of the dessert on the menu, which combines biscuits, mascarpone cream, coffee and cocoa. It costs BRL 32.

Headed by chef Lara Carolinas, the patisserie is dedicated solely to Italian sweets. The tiramisu can be assembled on the spot, according to the customer’s taste, for R$22. There are different flavor options, such as pistachio, salted caramel and white chocolate with amarena. At the base of all are mascarpone combined with egg yolk and sugar, savoiardi biscuit soaked in coffee, plus a touch of marsala wine and cocoa powder at the end.
