Great Saturday and despite what happens every year regarding the legality or otherwise of the custom and in Vrontados of Chios everything is ready for the “absolute lord” of Easter customs on the island, the Rocket war.

A custom that again this year proved to be a real magnet for visitors from many parts of Greece and Turkey. Especially this year let it be noted that the custom will be filmed in real time and broadcast live in the largest entertainment sphere in the world, in Las Vegas, the famous MSG Sphere.

This afternoon in the presence of the Minister of Immigration and Asylum and Member of Parliament of Chios Notis Mitarakis, the Member of Parliament of Chios of SYRIZA/Progressive Alliance Andreas Michaelides, the mayor of Chios Stamatis Karmantzis and other representatives of the local authorities, the traditional parade of the “rocketers” will take place in the coastal zone of Vrontado. The crews of the two districts of Agios Markos and Panagia Erithiani, which immediately after “Christ is Risen” will aim with thousands of rockets, one at the other’s church, will march and take their place in the “rocket launchers”. Along with them, of course, are the Brondadusian locals and from all over the world who return to their island, even sailors who disembark for this reason.

The throwing of the rockets will take place at specified times, with an absolute pause at the time of arrival of the residents to the two Churches, of Agios Markos and Panagia Erithiani, for the Resurrection divine service.
