The interruption of drinking water supply through the water supply network continues provided by DEYA Meizonos Volos, after the devastating floods which swept the whole Magnesia.

For the 15th day, the water that reaches the residents’ taps is not drinkablethe supply is only for domestic use, and this is indicated by state bodies and the municipality, in order to prevent the occurrence of diseases.

Workshops of DEWA Meizonos Volos are working feverishly to repair the extensive damageassisted by the expertise of EYDAP which has assumed a special role in the region, while the distribution of drinking bottled water continues in the districts of Volos.

In the meantime, dust from the dry mud after the floods is still widespread mainly in the center and west.

Krausidonas, the torrent that overflowed and caused incalculable damage to homes, businesses and cars, is cleaned by crews of the Region of Thessaly.

In Pelion, efforts are being made to restore the damage, mainly to the road network, so that it can be restored -even if rudimentarily- normality and to traffic people and goods.

The problem is big in the Pagasitic Gulf, where there are huge quantities of transported materials that have been brought down to the sea by the torrents and pose a danger to navigation but have also made the beaches inaccessible due to the accumulation of garbage. In addition, Pagasitikos is a large but closed bay, where the waters are not easily renewed due to the geomorphology.

In East Pelion, the special vessel “Typhoon” of the Laskaridis Foundation has already been active for the last few days, which cleans the sea area and the coasts in Agios Ioannis, Papa Nero, Plaka by removing portable materials.

It is noted that “Typhoon” will also go to Skiathos to help clean up the island.
