From October 1, 2023 until March 31, 2024, the winter period for common quiet hours comes into force.

According to Police Order 3 of 1996, the midday and nighttime common quiet hours for the winter season are defined as follows:

from 15:30 to 17:30 (noon)
from 22:00 to 07:30 (night)

Disturbing the public peace is punishable by a prison sentence of up to five months.

During the midday and nighttime quiet hours, the following are prohibited:

a. Work or other activities that create noise. In exceptional cases of emergency, which cannot be postponed, with a special reasoned permission of the commander of the relevant Police Department, the execution of work, especially of public utility, that causes noise may be allowed.

b. The operation of any musical instrument or radio, tape recorder or television set at high volume, shouting, boisterous dancing and any other noisy event in residences or other private places.

c. Singing, chanting, the use of musical instruments, the operation of radios, tape recorders and televisions in the streets, squares and generally public spaces of residential areas, as well as in public transport vehicles.

d. Noisy games in cafes, bowling alleys or other public centers, as well as the shouting and high-pitched discussions of the patrons of these centers.

e. Noisy discussions and arguments at car stations (bus, TAXI, etc.), the loading or unloading of goods in or from trucks, which creates noise, as well as the noisy operation of the wheeled engine, which is at a standstill.

f. The use of sirens or other sound instruments or security systems, without an emergency reason, as well as their test operation.
