The children of the president of the Greek community of Benghazi had offered to help the Greek mission as interpreters
At the Holy Church of Panagia Faneromeni in Vouliagmeni, in the presence of Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the funeral of the two sisters – Angela-Moira and Philip-Antonio Mandaliou – who died in a car accident in Libya along with three members of the Greek mission for humanitarian aid, after the deadly floods in Derna.
Tragic figures are the parents of the two deceased young people as well as Angela’s husband who had climbed the steps of the Church with the 32-year-old eight days before the fatal traffic accident and today accompanies her to her final residence.

By presidential decree, following the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the two brothers will be awarded, posthumously, the Grand Cross of the Phoenix.
The accident happened on September 17 in the village of Marawa, when a car carrying a family from Libya went into the opposite direction, colliding with the Greek mission bus and causing a fire.
