For Thessaly, it was the 2nd coldest month in the last 14 years, and for Central Greece and Pel/nisos it was the 4th coldest
According to the network of 51 meteorological stations of the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr that have been operating continuously since 2010 until today, this September the average value of the maximum daily temperatures fluctuated at high levels in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, and at low levels in Central Greece, in relation to the average of the period 2010-2019.
September in Thrace was one of the warmest months
In Macedonia and Thrace, this year’s September was characterized by many days with positive temperature deviations, and especially in Thrace it was one of the warmest Septembers since 2010.
In Thessaly and Central Greece, the largest negative temperature deviations were recorded, with the average monthly values varying 0.7 °C and 0.6 °C respectively, below normal levels for the season.

The following graph presents the ranking of the month of September by year, according to the average monthly value of the maximum temperature.
Overall for Northern Greece, it was the 3rd warmest September since 2010, as well as for the Aegean Islands and the Dodecanese.
For Thessaly, it was the 2nd coldest month in the last 14 years, and for Central Greece and Pel/nisos it was the 4th coldest. In Central Greece during the bad weather “Daniel” between September 4-6, the largest negative temperature deviations were recorded, up to 14 °C below normal levels for the season.
In Athens, the monthly mean maximum temperature deviation value was -0.5 °C, with 18 of the 30 days of the month being colder than normal for the season.
In Thessaloniki, 19 days of the month were warmer than the average value of the period 2010-2019, where the average maximum temperature of the month fluctuated 0.7ºC above normal levels. Drama and Kilkis saw the most days with a positive temperature deviation (24 days), followed by Xanthi and Alexandroupoli with 23 days.
