The medical examiner reportedly found a wound in the left cervical area on the body of the 32-year-old police officer who died in the early hours of the morning, when he was attacked with a knife by a 44-year-old Norwegian citizen, inside a bar, on Katsimidis Street, in Thessaloniki.

According to the first forensic findings, the 32-year-old’s death was instantaneous.

As revealed by SKAI and Theodosis Panou, the victim served in the Sub-Directorate of Internal Affairs of Northern Greece of the EL.AS., the so-called “Incorruptible”. He was off duty at the beer hall where he was having fun with his best man and childhood friend.

From the testimonies of patrons of the store, it appears that the 44-year-old assailant initially had an argument with the policeman’s best man, whom he hit on the leg. Then the policeman tried to intervene but was fatally attacked by the foreigner.

According to police sources, the attacker had consumed a large amount of alcohol and was drunk.

Patrons called for help and notified police officers who were in an adjacent building where the MAT Service is based. The perpetrator was then arrested and taken to the Thessaloniki Police Station, where he is being held.

The policeman’s best man was taken to the “Ippokrateio” Hospital for the provision of first aid.
