For the temporary relocation of the medical, nursing and other staff of the 3rd ICU of the Papanikolaou Hospital in order to carry out necessary maintenance and disinfection work in the premises, the administration of the hospital is speaking, responding to the announcement of the Association of Hospital Doctors of Thessaloniki, which spoke of “suspension of operation of the 3rd ICU of the hospital “G. Papanikolaou” due to understaffing.
The announcement of the administration of the Papanikolaou Hospital states:
In order to carry out maintenance and disinfection work in the 3rd ICU area of ​​G.N.Th. “C. PAPANIKOLAOU” due to necessity, and after unanimous suggestions from both the Directors of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ICUs as well as the Director of the Medical Service, we proceeded on 26/1/2024 to temporarily move the medical, nursing and other staff of the 3rd ICU
At the same time, the movement in question was aimed at making good use of the available resources of the Hospital, as during this particular period it has a sufficient number of ICU beds and no problem of any kind is found in covering cases that require intensive treatment.
Finally, the staff of all the services involved are fully prepared for the development of additional ICU beds in the event that a similar need arises, as there is provision for drawing up a daily schedule for staff of all specialties, who will immediately take over duty.
